decided to award the following prizes and mentions in the "Radio Programs
Cathegory":
The first prize ex equo
"Friends of Żelazna Street" (R10) authors: Maria Brzezińska,
Eugeniusz Rudnik, prod. Radio Lublin S.A., Lublin, 2001.
It is a documentary radio ballad. The programme is based on the Polish document - the
evidence given by a Jewish woman - Zysla Kupershmid, who survived the Second World War in
a flat of the Skowronek family in Warsaw. The document was given by The Institute Yad
Vashen of Jesrusalem. The family has been granted the award "Just Among World's
Nations." It is worth mentioning that the four-floor-flat of the tenement was within
co-called "large ghetto" and the fact that the both women - mothers were friends
even after the war. The role of Zysla performed by Helen Szmuness, BBC journalist in
London. The radio program with extraordinary music was professionally made. During the age
of wars and hate this kind of massage of love is inevitable. The truth wins and the hope
awakes.
"Invitation to Rosary Prayer" (R41) author: Robert Tekieli prod. Spółka Producencka PLUS Sp. z o.o., Warsaw, 1999
The two radio programs have not been chosen accidentally. This one-minute-advertisement
does not lie. In its short form it brings us closer to Our Lord. Truth is its power.
II prize ex equo
"Persona - it's me" (R12) author: Anna Kaczkowska, prod. Radio Lublin
S.A., Lublin, 2001.
It tells the dramatic story of a Polish child from Wołyń
who in 1943 witnessed murdering of the entire family by Ukrainian Nacionalists. The child
survived owing to the Ukrainian families that risking their lives to hide a little Polish
girl. After fifty-year-laps-time the girl finds and visits the families that once saved
her life. She is cordially welcomed. The local society lends her a helping hand in
building a monument to honour the members of her murdered family. The programme is a very
good production accompanied by the folk music. It is a cruel story in which the truth
about our times is portrayed. This truth tells us about the strength of the nations. There
have always heroes and villains but love breeds hope.
"Written on Knees" (R33) author: Bożena
Grochalska, prod. Catholic Radio "Rodzina". Wrocław, 2001.
The programme of the series portrays the priests through their passion. In this programme
we meet Andrzej Wójcik, the priest. He is interested history and art. But he also
propounds the knowledge about the Christians' lives that are reflected in the icons. Not
only the passions of the priest are important but also his words. He complains about the
youngsters who are totally uninterested in history and therefore they are slowly loosing
their national roots and identity. Owing to this well done programme the listener may get
found of icons.

Part II - "Young People Protest" (R38) author: Alicja Maciejowska prod.
The Polish Radio S.A., Studio Reportażu i Dokumentu, Warsaw, 2000.Two programmes: The
story of Stanisław Mikołajczyk's life told by his family, friends and collaboratores.
The protest of the scouts and young people from Wici organisation that took place during
the celebration of "Trzymamy straż nad Odrą" (Keeping the Watch on Odra) in
Szczecin in 1946. The programmes show a great man and his mission. It reveals the unknown
facts therefore are recommended to all those who seek the historical truth.
"The Power of the Poetry" (R24) author: Krzysztof Wyrzykowski, prod. The
Polish Radio S.A., Studio Reportażu i Dokumentu, Warsaw,
2001
The priest Wacław Buryta in a small village Krośnice (Silesia) organised the poet
festival called "For a Human Face of the Man" in which participate poets from
Poland and from abroad. People from the surrounding villages gather in a large cinema hall
where the contest takes place. The beautiful poetry combined with touching music changes
the common opinion that Poles watch only "Big Brother" and "Kiepscy"
("The Bundies") And indeed the programme has changed the stereotype. The Poles
need the real culture and Wacław Buryta's ministry is the proof of that. "The Power
of the Poetry" reflects the unity and harmony of word and sound.

The programme consists of the fragments from the serial - "The Year 2000 Is
Today". We have highly appreciated the professional realisation of the programme.
"Teatrogiornale: Il Pellegrino" (R28) "The Theatre News: the
Pilgrim" author: Roberto Cavosi, prod. RAI Radio 3, Italy, 2000.
We admire the new forms of expression used in order to present the news as a radio
programme.
"Go and Conquer the World" (R44) author:Katarzyna Bodych, prod, Radio
Niepokalanów, Teresin, 2001.
It focuses on the circumstances of the murdering of the Fathers in Peru. The programme
perfectly reflects the appalling crime and fear of the local people.
Multimedia Programs
The organisers of the festival decided to mention the computer game "I am" for innovative way of using the form of a computer game to spread the Word of God (Gospel) among children. The method is of a great value especially in our times when children are flooded with violent computer games.
Music Recordings
The organisers of the Festival decided that it is worth prising :
- The records from the International Festival of Sacral Music "Gaude Mater" in Częstochowa as they represent the so called "high culture" .
- The magazine "Ruah" for overall activity in the field of the music and publishing.
- The priest Zązel and the folk group from the mountains "Grojcowianie" as they managed to combine in extraordinary way the evangelisation and folk culture.
- "Victoria Dei" group from Madonna of the Polish Martyrs Parish in Warsaw.
- The group led by Henryk Szewczuk has recorded about 60 carols, which is of great importance in the age when nowadays no one takes part in the life of the parish.
